The Dream

“Mom, I’m almost ready. How much time will you take? Shall I book the cab?” After a long time, I was feeling this light headed. On a weekday I wasn’t getting ready for office, but I was getting ready to go on a shopping spree with my mother. I called for a cab. I was too lazy to drive. Today’s agenda was binge eating, shopping to my heart’s content and talk endlessly with my mother. The cab arrived and we set out on ‘Mother-Daughter’s’ day out. “It feels so good. Today I don’t have to chase any deadline. I really wanted to do this today. Remember I told you about the job that I applied for; they rejected me day before yesterday. I was too embarrassed to tell you about it. I wonder if I’m ever going to land into some great job. I mean I like this job, but I want to write stories; about people, travel, food.” I looked at my mother. She had this serene look. She was looking at me earnestly, like she was able to understand my frustration, but at the same time she knew that I didn’t want ...

Demons of the Past

I felt hot. On opening my eyes, I realised that Raunak was clung to me as a creeper. Ironical it was. I always thought that I was his creeper. People needed air to breathe, but I needed Raunak whenever I wanted calm and peace in my ultra-busy life. I smiled inwardly. My throat felt parched. I wonder if it was because of the fact that Raunak had not left even an ounce of space for me to breathe or was it because just few hours ago we had a torrid and inexpressible need for each other. With a lot of care, I got out of his grip. I came out of the duvet and Ooty’s chilled air greeted me. I looked out for my dress, which we had mercilessly discarded few hours ago. My eyes were fixed on Raunak’s shirt. I slipped it on. Not because I was ashamed of my nakedness, but because of the century old preaching that one should never be comfortable with their skin. Raunak’s shirt was barely able to cover me, but then in the wilderness of Ooty; I wasn’t afraid that someone would spot me. I came out ...

Hungover

I adjusted in my seat and took a deep breath. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Finally my wish was fulfilled. I was going to watch ‘The Opera’ in New York City.  I turned my gaze to Saurabh and stifled a smile. He was a pathetic liar. I knew how much he loved being there, but just to tease me he was acting as if it was all insufferable to him. “Smile, a bit,” I pinched his arm, “otherwise people would think that you’re here under duress.” “I’m here under duress,” he whispered in my ear. Too close for my sanity. But as usual he ignored the effect that he had on me. “I just came here for you and for the fact that I love you the most.” There he said it again and it made me smile and my heart ache at the same time. But to keep the atmosphere light, I winked at him and directed his face back to the stage.  People were still pouring in and I couldn’t wait when everyone would be finally seated and the opera would begin.  People dressed in stunning gowns, beautiful ambience, the...

Broken is Beautiful

The voices were distinct in the background. The sound of tides had muffled the cries of zealous men and women who were partying hard in the shack. Kiara looked around and soon found a spot. She was away from the crowd, still very much within the sight. She didn’t want to sound rude, but she knew she didn’t belong with the group of her over-zealous, party lover office people. She wanted this time for herself... just herself.  Within no matter of time, she realised Anant was coming towards her. She laughed inwards. Even though the new column writer tried to convince everyone that he was a party lover, in reality he was a recluse. With a joint in his hand, he was also figuring out where he could sit and just get lost in this wilderness. He looked at Kiara and smiled awkwardly. Kiara turned her attention back to the sea. And Anant, well he made himself comfortable just inches away from Kiara.  The sea looked beautiful. It was difficult to fathom it, raging, calm, hiding so m...

The Wandering Soul

He sucked her hard, bit her and she matched his fervour. She bit him back, kissed him with passion that could put anyone to shame, entwined her legs around him as if she didn’t want even an ounce of him escape from her, as if her life depended upon him, as if she was hanging on to him and he was the support she needed. And then the ultimate release. They both screaming not worrying that someone could hear them. It was necessary. That scream. It proved that both of them took each other to places that were just mythical. Such was Zara and Rishab’s relation. After catching her breath, Zara looked at Rishab. He was in deep slumber. The sweat was still shining like jewels on his forehead. She got up and realised that she was naked. Not that she was ashamed of her nudity, but it was chilly outside. So, she put on the long shirt and got out from the warmth of the blanket. She opened the mini bar and found scotch there. She poured herself some in the glass, lit a cigarette and sat on the s...
